The seasons are a changin
February 25th, 2013As Winter comes to an end and the days get longer it is time to start dreaming of the beautiful color filled days of Spring. It won’t be long now as bulbs begin to pop up and buds start to swell. Now is great time to do any remaining preparation and housekeeping to your landscape. Those of you who grow vegetables should get your gardens cleaned and turned over ready for the early cool season crops. Perennial beds and ornamental grasses should be neatened up. It is also a good idea to do a soil test of your gardens and lawn areas to see how your soils Ph and nutrients look. There are many things to do to prepare for a great growing season ahead. Please let us know if we can assist you with any of your late Winter and early Spring maintenance and planting needs. A good landscape plan can also go a long way in providing you a sucessful 2013 gardening season. Please come see us at next Sundays Culpeper Garden Expo in Germanna Comminty College Daniael Tecnology Center.
Deer Damage in the Landscape
February 15th, 2013Deer damage has not been too bad so far this Winter. Maybe weather and available food helped play a part. We did have fairly good success with a new 6 month latex based repellent spray we tried this year. We had great results with the 7.5’ deer fence we installed this Fall at several locations. Worked very well in keeping deer out and changing their direction of daily travel. So far seems very durable and is also not too ugly.
Come visit our booth at this years first annual Culpeper Home and Garden Show on February 3rd. Details to follow.
